It’s when I say goodbye.

When do I typically feel the most sad?

It’s when I say goodbye.

It’s ending a conversation.

Leaving the dinner or party.

Kissing you at the airport.

Hanging up the phone.

That’s when I feel the most alone.

Not when I wake up by myself in bed. Work remote. Or spend nights in an empty apartment.

It’s the contrast. It’s when I feel the warmth of the people I love and then nothing.

It’s the silence.
